This course is designed to illustrate how to apply the Monroe Sequence of Motivation to written text in order to target a specific audience, calling for action or the shifting of opinion or point of view. This proven technique of writing persuasive text shows the writer how to break down the barriers that often keep our written text from achieving our desired outcomes.
After having written a baseline document, the student will study each of the 5 steps/components of the Monroe Motivational Sequence. Once the student has studied each of the 5 steps and has completed the associated practice exercises, he or she will be directed to return to the baseline document to revise applying the 5 new components that have been learned.
Once the course is completed, the student will be prepared to apply this new knowledge to any writing activity: reports, essays, memos, letters, advertising, marketing documents, and any other written text with a specific audience and desired action.
